These are historic times, times of upheaval, when we all have to adapt to help our companies survive.

Nothing is spared... every sphere of our lives is affected, our finances, our work, our personal lives, our leisure activities and, for the less fortunate, even our health. Just 40 days ago, I was in Japan near the famous "Diamond Princess" ship, and I never thought that COVID-19 would have such a major impact on our lives here in Quebec. Everything was going well for Hubu, and the team building order book was full for the next 6 weeks.

And then... the slap in the face came. It started with the cancellation of a trip, then followed... social distancing, closed shopping malls, non-essential businesses and just like that, we lost all our contracts. The slap in the face lasted a few days, then I started calling trusted people around me to see how we could create something beautiful out of it all.

The first step was to complete our website and update the company's administrative paperwork, which was only a few months old. Then we moved into service mode. How can we serve local businesses, how can we use our expertise in creating team-building activities and meaningful experiences to design a service or product tailored to their needs?

After discussions with business leaders, coaches and a few former EEB colleagues, we realized that the need to unite teams was greater than ever. In concrete terms, here are the needs we identified:

  • Connection How do you establish a real human relationship in this virtual context?

  • Trust How to maintain trust between employer and employee?

  • Motivation How do you keep your team motivated and committed from a distance?

  • Feedback How do you get the facts right and obtain team feedback in this virtual context?

Knowing this, the Hubu team got to work and we brainstormed on how to create a fast and affordable solution for our customers and local SMEs. During the first week of our brainstorm, it was as if we were too close to the tree, we were looking to create a virtual product (a kind of "do it yourself"), but the market is saturated with this kind of virtual game. It was during a walk outside that we got far enough away from the tree to see the whole forest. Daniel asked me, "How do we have the greatest impact with teams?" My answer was, "when we intervene face-to-face with teams, that's also what we like to do best."

This is where the idea of 10-day challenge Remote set© came: a 10-day challenge to keep your employees motivated and engaged during the COVID-19 crisis. In just a few days, with the help of a few collaborators, we designed a challenge for teams (from 6 to 80 employees) looking to increase engagement and stay connected in a fun way while working remotely. Remote setconsists of 5 challenges that take between 5 and 15 minutes (maximum) per day, to keep your team productive. Each new challenge involves short daily individual and collaborative tasks designed to build team bonds and practice skills needed by remote teams.

Remote set© included :

  • 6 calls on Zoom with the Hubu team to animate and launch each new challenge;

  • All documents relating to each challenge;

  • A final report to remember the experience Remote set©;

  • A closing ceremony to celebrate.

With major changes in the working environment, more than ever before, remote teams need to connect. We're aware that many teams are currently "on life support", which is why we want to help them inject a healthy dose of oxygen and energy into the team. We're launching the challenge today, and already a number of entrepreneurs have expressed interest in taking part. Remote set©.

To help and serve Quebec SMEs, we're also doing our part by offering this challenge free of charge to 2 teams. If you are interested in taking part in the challenge, please click on the red button. Start the challenge and fill out the information request form. In exactly 1 week (Wednesday, April 15), we'll announce the 2 winning companies who will take on the challenge. Remote set©.

Don't hesitate to share the good news with your network. #cavabienaller
