Introducing "Food for Thought" #96. The formula is simple: two inspirational messages a month to help you strengthen your team's cohesion.
As a manager, there are times when you just want to DROP YOUR ARMS... blurs, silos, conflicts, unspoken words, mistrust, insecurity, exhaustion, individualism, and so on.
But let's be honest for a second... if things were going better with your team, you'd want to go the extra mile, wouldn't you?
So.., here's a short exercise to improve your team NOW!
Visit 6 DIMENSIONS crucial to a team's success:
- Vision : alignment and direction to keep the team motivated
- Adaptability : iterate, pivot and remain resilient despite uncertainty
- Psychological safety : a climate of trust that fosters innovation
- Feedback: address issues directly, with courage
- Assessment: value everyone's contributions and talents
- Emotional intelligence : recognize and manage your own emotions and those of others
Now take a step back.
Rate each dimension on a scale of 1 to 5.
Example:
- Vision: 3
- Adaptability: 4
- Psychological safety: 3
- Feedback : 2
- Rating: 3
- Emotional intelligence: 3
Then identify the dimension that disappoints you most, and on which investing your attention would have the greatest impact.
Then write down five (5) concrete actions you could take to improve this dimension. We don't want big, abstract strategies: we want simple, concrete actions.
Start today with the easiest action on your list. Then work your way up to the fifth.
Sounds too simple? Progress is often hidden in the power of a first step.
If you'd like to be supported by the Hubu team, send us your action points. We'll follow up with you in the next month to see where you are and how your team is doing.
