Introducing "Food for Thought" #21. The formula is simple: three short messages once a week to feed your mind.
Leadership
Be the guardian of culture
Culture doesn't depend on the facilities you own, but rather on the people who make up your team. As a team leader, it's your job to be the guardian of that culture.
Hire accordingly. Look for personality traits, not accomplishments. Look for a culture fitrather than skills.
When you notice behaviors or attitudes that no longer fit with team values, be uncompromising with the individuals who are undermining the rest of the team. Bad apples can ravage a culture in no time.
In the end, if you take care of the culture, it will take care of the rest.
Motivation
The courage to begin
"Whatever you dream of doing, start it. Boldness has genius, power, magic." Von Goethe sums up the power of the first step. Don't let fear of the unknown stop you from pursuing your dreams. Dare to start, even if you don't have all the answers.
Often, the hardest part is getting started, but once you do, you'll be amazed at how things fall into place. Who knows what the future will bring?
Leadership
An essential leadership trait
Socrates said, "Know thyself. This quote highlights the importance of self-knowledge for a leader. Nothing has more impact than a leader with a sound knowledge of his or her strengths, weaknesses and limitations.
