Introducing "Food for Thought" #93. The formula is simple: three short messages 2x a month to feed your mind.

This food for thought is inspired by our reading of the Deloitte Human Capital Trends 2025.

Management

Why must managers reinvent their role in 2025?

73% of organizations recognize the importance of reinventing the manager's role. 25% have taken concrete steps in this direction. Only 7% say they are making real progress. In a complex, fast-moving world, the role of the manager is changing: he or she must become a conductor, capable of creating authentic connections with his or her team, because the quality of the relationship is now the true measure of leadership.

Question to ponder: What do your managers do, in concrete terms, to build connection and inspire trust?

Stability

Teams need stability before they can be agile

75% of workers say they are looking for more stability, while 85% of managers prefer agility. But one can't exist without the other, and teams need solid anchors: clarity of vision, priorities and roles, and then the gas pedal.

Question to ponder: What anchor points do your managers need to consolidate before they can accelerate?

Step back

Hindsight has never been so essential

41% of employee time is spent on tasks that bring no real value to the organization. Tools designed to increase productivity often add new layers of complexity. And, symptomatic of a deeper malaise, eight out of ten workers simply answer "busy" when asked how they're doing.

Question to ponder: How can your managers help their teams create space for thinking, rather than being busy producing?
