Introducing "Food for Thought" #78. The formula is simple: three short messages once a week to feed your mind.
Motivation
Mental health, a key factor in team performance
"It starts a lot from there, you can have the best skills, but if it's not going well mentally, you'll never play at the top of your game." These were the words of Martin St-Louis, head coach of the Montreal Canadiens for Bell Cause for Cause 2025 Day.
The mental overload induced by the constant fragmentation of our attention is a real challenge for work teams in 2025. We spend more and more time in asynchronous collaboration, which pushes us to be in the moment. Our work, constantly interrupted by notifications, is a huge energy drain on our brains, which leads to:
- Increased stress levels;
- Mental fatigue;
- An illusion that we're busy, that we're working hard, when in reality we're not producing any real value.
Collaboration
Impact on teams
In 2024, our co-founder Gabriel experienced the impact of this mental overload in his own way. The result was a loss of drive and collective motivation in our team. Fortunately, well supported by our team members, Gabriel was able to take the necessary steps to protect his mental health and get back on track.
What about you, in your team, how do you make your colleagues aware of the importance of taking care of their mental health? Do you set aside time to get out of the game and recharge the batteries? Do you hold yourselves accountable for doing this together? Do you have clear guidelines to protect your mental health?
Habits
Some ways to take care of your mind
