Introducing "Food for Thought" #27. The formula is simple: three short messages once a week to feed your mind.

Motivation

Being the guardian of meaning

Instead of asking "how to motivate people", we should be asking "how to create the conditions in which people will motivate themselves". To achieve such conditions, people need to understand the meaning and value of things.

-Inspired by the researcher Edward Deci quoted in the book Unleashing Motivation

Raison d'être

The ongoing journey of the raison d'être

As Simon Sinek so aptly reminded us: "People don't buy what you do, or how you do it, but rather why you do it." Determining your raison d'être brings you several benefits: giving meaning to and influencing your decisions, guiding the way you manage, and creating opportunities in which you believe. When your raison d'être is clearly defined and understood, some people may jump ship, but others will want to get on board for the right reasons.

10 years ago, as a coach, my raison d'être was to move towards more human leadership. Today, with Hubu, it has become even stronger, with the idea of "bringing more love and humanity into organizations".

Leadership

Look at yourself before pointing at others

Before saying it's the other person's fault that things aren't going well in a project or situation, take the time to ask yourself: How am I contributing to the situation through my behavior or attitude? We are always part of the solution and/or the problem, because as leaders, we are responsible for our environment.
