Introducing "Food for Thought" #86. The formula is simple: three short messages once a week to feed your mind.

Watching the new Lion King recently, in which Mufasa plays the lead role, I was struck by the richness of his character. He embodies three essential leadership archetypes, which distinguish him profoundly from his brother Taka (aka Scar).

Performance

The warrior

Mufasa faces up to adversity without backing down. He acts with courage and determination, especially when he saves his adoptive mother, Eshe, and later Sarabi. The warrior forges ahead, makes decisions and moves forward, even when it's difficult.

Vulnerability

The sweet

Having been raised apart from other males, among lionesses, Mufasa has developed a unique sensitivity. He has learned to observe, to listen, to feel. This finesse enables him to pick up on weak signals, emotions and dangers before they strike. The gentle one knows how to be strong yet empathetic.

Authenticity

The player

Mufasa loves to laugh, joke and lighten the mood. He has that precious ability to bring his team back into the present moment. His brother, on the other hand, is often locked in his head, a prisoner of his scenarios. The player is the leader who creates lightness, even in the midst of a storm.
