Introducing "Food for Thought" #64. The formula is simple: three short messages once a week to feed your mind.
Culture
TAKE CARE OF YOUR CULTURE, AND IT WILL TAKE CARE OF THE RESULTS
Culture is the sum total of the behaviors, actions and attitudes embodied in your teams. This famous culture must be as much a part of your strategic plan as the objectives you set.
- What is the history of your organization?
- Why do you exist? What is your WHY?
- What behaviors do you expect from team members? Conversely, what are the anti-behaviors?
- What team rituals are important for fulfilling your mission and bringing your vision to life?
- What mechanisms can you put in place to encourage behaviors that reinforce your culture?
- How can you ensure that your culture evolves and remains relevant over time?
- Do you have a strong symbol to define who you are as a team? (a phrase, an image, a metaphor, a slogan, etc.).
Leadership
THE IMPORTANCE OF ALLOWING MICROCULTURES TO EMERGE
In organizations with more than 50 to 100 employees, often spread over several sites, management teams need to encourage the emergence of microcultures based on the organization's guiding principles.
The reality is that each team has its own DNA, color and diversity. These microcultures enable us to leverage the unique perspectives and strengths of each team, further fostering a sense of belonging.
Motivation
SET COLLECTIVE RATHER THAN INDIVIDUAL OBJECTIVES
"A culture is strong when people work with each other, for each other. A culture is weak when people work against each other for themselves."
-Simon Sinek
