Introducing "Food for Thought" #34. The formula is simple: three short messages once a week to feed your mind.
Teamwork
Invest relentlessly in your team culture
Culture is the sum total of behaviors, attitudes and actions that are embodied in the organization. Culture is the organization's immune system, what protects it in stormy weather. Here are a few steps you can take to maintain a strong culture in your team:
- Define the pillars of culture: Develop keywords to clearly define the organization's DNA. And above all, define how each word translates into behavior within the team.
- Leading by example: Doing, not just saying, how culture should be lived. Culture is built in small, everyday gestures, not in annual gatherings.
- Recognize and reward: Recognize and celebrate cultural milestones and achievements.
- Repeat and reassess: Regularly reinforce the principles of the culture. The culture is also dynamic, and needs to be evaluated regularly and adjusted if necessary.
Productivity
You don't have to be perfect all the time
Excellence isn't about being good all the time or striving for perfection. Excellence is about being unbeatable when it counts most. What are the moments in your performance that make the difference?
Motivation
Man in the arena
Here's a passage that's part of our DNA at Hubu, reminding us that we don't have to be perfect, but rather that we value the effort we put in:
"It's not the critic who counts, nor the one who shows how the strong man stumbled or how the man of action could have done better. All the credit belongs to the man who really goes into the arena, whose face is covered in sweat, dust and blood, who fights valiantly, who makes mistakes, who fails again and again, because there is no effort without error and failure, but who does his utmost to progress, who is very enthusiastic, who devotes himself to a noble cause, who at best will know in the end the triumph of a great achievement, and who at worst, if he fails, at least will fail after having tried everything, so that his place will never be among the cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat. "
