Introducing "Food for Thought" #2. The formula is simple: three short messages once a week to feed your mind.

Facilitation

Create a safe space first

The best facilitators know how to create a safe space where participants feel confident to exchange ideas.

Here are a few tips to help you get there:

  1. Be aware of the context.
  2. Create clear rules of engagement with the group.
  3. Give everyone a chance to express themselves.
  4. Listen more than you talk.
  5. Don't try to fill the silences.

Leadership

Accept failure and start again

If you have a goal, put it into action now, even if it's not perfect. Be humble enough not to get it right the first time.

If you fail, be agile by adjusting quickly. Each new attempt brings you a little closer to the goal until you succeed.

Teamwork

Real-time feedback

Stop making a big fuss about feedback: "I'll talk to him about it at our next review meeting." If you're wondering whether to talk about it, find a time to talk about it quickly.

Real-time feedback starts with giving it and asking for it often. It allows you to readjust quickly and avoid misunderstandings.
