Teamwork

5 powerful questions to launch the year with your team

Do things differently for your first team meeting in 2023. Before you get too operational, start by thinking strategically:

  1. What did we learn from 2022 and how can we use these lessons to make 2023 our best year ever?
  2. How can we improve our efficiency to achieve our goals in half the time this year?
  3. What challenges might we face this year, and how do we want to tackle them as a team?
  4. How can we ensure that all team members feel included and valued this year?
  5. What's one counterintuitive thing we could do to multiply our results?

New Year's Special

What can you do to keep your resolutions?

A new year usually begins with new goals and resolutions. However, this surge of motivation is sometimes short-lived, and we tend to fall back into the comfort of our old habits.

Here are a few tips to help you avoid this trap in 2023:

  1. Focus on the person you want to become. Is this person an athlete, a father, a reader or a musician? Every action aligned with who you want to become is a vote for that person.
  2. Take smaller steps. Start smaller to maintain momentum. For example, exercise for 10 minutes, write 100 words, read 3 pages, save $100 or meditate for 1 minute.
  3. Do not break the chain. What you do on a bad day is more important than what you do on a good day. Excellence is about repeating small steps every day.
  4. Create a disciplined environment. Your behaviors are more closely linked to your environment than to your level of discipline. For example, take your cell phone out of the bedroom, don't buy problem foods, prepare your workout clothes the night before or put the video game console away in the closet.
  5. Remember that discomfort is temporary. You'll never regret the job once it's finished, because it'll be followed by a great sense of satisfaction.
  6. Start the day with good choices. You'll generate momentum for the rest of your day. A good choice early in the day always pays off better than late in the day.
