Introducing "Food for Thought" #39. The formula is simple: three short messages once a week to feed your mind.

Management

3 keys to project success

These 3 keys were born out of a conversation with one of our customers.

  1. Start with why: Have an inspiring raison d'être, a powerful why that motivates and guides every action.
  2. Bringing the right people together: Having the right people to bring this vision to life, enabling them to use their strengths and shine every day.
  3. Creating a favorable environment : Ensure that the team has the tools, context and safe space needed to innovate, collaborate and solve challenges.

Feedback

Avoid the sandwich method

The sandwich method involves giving feedback by framing a criticism between two compliments. Although this method may seem well-intentioned, it is often considered one of the worst methods for giving feedback for several reasons:

  1. Lack of clarity: By surrounding criticism with compliments, the main message can be diluted and toned down.
  2. Lack of authenticity: When you go from criticism to compliment, it can be perceived as a lack of authenticity.
  3. Confusion: The person receiving the feedback may feel confused as to what they really need to take away from the message.

In the end, be frank and direct when you have a courageous conversation to have. As Andrew Huberman says, "Don't do the garden tour before you do the septic tour."

Change

About change management

"When change involves others, involve them!"
