Introducing "Food for Thought" #29. The formula is simple: three short messages once a week to feed your mind.
Productivity
100% vs. 98
The quest for perfection is well-intentioned, but it can generate a lot of pressure without necessarily making a difference in the end. Some projects are well served by achieving 98% perfection. In these projects, devoting time, effort and attention to the last 2% isn't always worth it. For example, formatting an Excel spreadsheet, even if the work is 98% perfect, is more than enough. On the other hand, other projects require 100% perfection, and fail if they don't fully meet the required specifications. Imagine a surgeon who disinfects his operating tools to 98%!
Knowing which moments require 100% vs. 98% will save you a lot of unnecessary stress and precious time in your day.
Teamwork
The better I am, the better we are
The best way to move forward together is for everyone in the team to recognize the importance of their own well-being. This week, what can you do individually to relieve your stress and be in a better position to help others?
Motivation
Practical, practical, practical
Excellence comes from practice. Few writers write a bestseller on the first try. Few athletes win a medal in their first race. It takes time, patience and, above all, repetition.
